Summer Sunday Conversations

St. Mark’s is pleased to bring back Summer Sunday Conversations. This series of conversational forums held after the service offer the opportunity to learn about some of the causes and organizations about which our parishioners are passionate.
July 13 – Family Promise of Bergen County
Paul Shackford, President of the Board of Trustees of Family Promise of Bergen County, will join us for this valuable conversation.
July 27 – Community Calls
Community Calls, a coalition of faith and local organization leaders working to strengthen community-wide relationships and disrupt tensions, aims to drive greater social connectedness, awareness, and grassroots action across differences of faith tradition, race, and ethnicity among Bergen County residents.
August 3 – The Venerable Diane Riley
Archdeacon for Mission and Service; Co-leader, Commission on Justice, Peace, and Racial Reconciliation
August 10 – Marsha Mackey and Joan Conley
Marsha and Joan will share their experiences from the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Alabama
August 17 – BOOST – Diocesan Task Force for Neurodivergence
Jewels Quelly will discuss this new ministry in our diocese.
August 24 – Screening of the movie A Case for Love at 4:00 p.m.
Featuring our charismatic former presiding bishop the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, along with Pete Buttigieg, Al Roker, Sam Waterston, John Danforth, Becca Stevens, Jon Meacham, Russell Moore, Kelly Brown Douglas, and Jim Clyburn, this feature-length film examines the question of whether or not love, specifically—unselfish—love, is the solution to the extreme societal and political divide facing the world.
September 7 – Keys2Success
Keys 2 Success aims to transform the lives of Newark’s youth by demonstrating that accessible, high-quality music education can be a powerful catalyst for personal growth, academic achievement, and community transformation, creating a generation of young people equipped with both musical skills and leadership capabilities to strengthen their communities.
