Program Year Begins with Two New Classes

On September 13th and 20th, St. Mark’s began the 2026-2027 program year.  On the 13th we welcomed back our choir at the 10:00 a.m. service, which was followed by a potluck picnic. On the 20th, we commissioned our teachers, child care providers and students before sending them to their classrooms.

This year we are blessed to expand our educational programming with two additional classes. We will continue to offer nursery care for our youngest parishioners, but expanded the space to a second room for pre-K children who are ready for more structured activities. The spaces are connected and children can move between them at will.

At the older end, we are launching a new class for 6th-8th graders to receive a more age-appropriate curriculum.  This class will meet twice monthly, overlapping with the 10 a.m. service so they can join us for Communion, and allowing them to serve as acolytes on the alternating Sundays. They will work towards confirmation over the next few years.

All of this was made possible by the efforts of many hands who thoroughly cleaned and organized all four classrooms to reclaim the needed space over the summer months, including the construction of two new storage closets.

We are grateful for the gift of more young people in our midst and pray for the wisdom and guidance to nurture their learning and growth.
