Epiphany at St. Mark’s
This year Epiphany, the feast commemorating the arrival of the magi at the birthplace of Jesus, fell on a Monday, so we observed it on the last day of Christmastide. Like last year we held a “pop-up pageant” in which narrators read the story from Luke’s gospel while others act out the parts. Participants take a grocery sack containing a costume, you don’t know what character you are until you open it. Thus the baby Jesus can be portrayed by a full-grown man, etc.
After the service there was a festive potluck kicking off our 100th anniversary celebration. A highlight was the table-by-table singing/performance of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. A happy way to turn the page on the holiday season and look ahead to our anniversary year!
