Diocese of Newark Marks 150th Anniversary with Concert, Service
Bishops Curry & Glasspool

On Saturday, May 16th & 17th, the Episcopal Diocese of Newark celebrated its 150th anniversary. Friday night there was a concert at Christ Church in Short Hills with a reception and short address by the Most Rev. Sean Rowe, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.

On Saturday, a Eucharist at St. Peter’s Church in Morristown at which the Rt. Rev. Mary Glasspool, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of New York, presided and the Rt. Rev. Michael B. Curry, Rowe’s immediate predecessor, preached. Interestingly, as of last weekend, neither of them was planning to be there. Bishop Rowe was originally going to preach at the service, but he is part of the Anglican delegation attending Pope Leo’s inauguration and Bishop Curry was gracious enough to step in. And–sadly–our own diocesan bishop, the Rt. Rev. Carlye J. Hughes, is in the hospital and had to watch the service online. Your prayers for her speedy recovery are appreciated!

Many thanks to Bps. Curry & Glasspool for stepping in to allow our celebration to go forward!
