Scenes from Blessing of the Animals
Annual tradition for the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
On Sunday, October 6th we held our annual Blessing of the Animals event on the lawn. Pets, service animals, favorite stuffed toys or even a photo of our beloved companions are welcome to receive prayer.
This tradition is born out of proximity to the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, observed on October 4th. Besides founding what became the Franciscan order, he is widely regarded as a friend to all living things, particularly animals. It is fitting that the event take place as we kick off our Season of Creation and Stewardship.
Thank you Mari Karner for the photos!
