Jacqueline McLeod Ordained as a Vocational Deacon

On April 13th, Jacqueline McLeod fulfilled a longtime goal as she was ordained as a vocational deacon. The service at the historic Trinity & St. Philip’s Cathedral in Newark was led by the Rt. Rev. Carlye J. Hughes, Bishop of Newark. The Ven. Diane Riley, Archdeacon, offered the sermon.

In addition to her family, Jackie was cheered on by large contingents by from both St. Mark’s (her sponsoring parish) and Christ Church in Bloomfield & Glen Ridge, where she has been serving as an intern. In a poignant moment, her granddaughter Ava assisted her in donning her deacon’s stole for the first time.

Jackie served at worship as a deacon for the first time at Christ Church the next day. She will join us April 21st as we observe our patronal feast.
